Native wildflowers have evolved alongside UK insects, birds and animals over thousands of years. This means they are often the only suitable food source for certain species. Wildflower meadows have declined by 97% since 1930 and make up just over 1% of the UK land mass.
- Many pollinators, such as bees, butterflies and hoverflies, rely on native wildflowers for nectar and pollen.
- Some insects can only feed or lay eggs on specific native plants, so without these flowers, entire species can disappear.
- Wildflowers also support birds and small mammals indirectly by sustaining insect populations.
Having worked in the Horticulture industry, it became clear just how much of our Native Wildflower species have vanished from our gardens and landscape. It also struck me how few places sold genuine Native Wildflower seeds – which is why Oxford Eco Garden was born. Our main USP is supplying Native Wildflower seeds anywhere in the UK for a reasonable price. We believe all our seeds are great value. can grow in much more limited zones. There is a Native Seed perfect for every type of garden or any area that is unused or abandoned. These flowers can make all the difference for our pollinators.

Protecting pollinators and food systems
Pollinators are essential for crops and wild plants alike. Without native wildflowers, pollinator numbers decline, threatening both ecosystems and agriculture. Native Wildflowers provide:
- Long flowering seasons, offering food from early spring to late autumn
- High-quality nectar and pollen, better suited to native insects than many ornamental plants

How to Sow Wildflowers:
One of the best qualities of wildflower is how easy they are to Sow. There are two sowing seasons for most Wildflowers – Autumn and Spring. Seeds are literally just required to be scattered on bare soil and leave the rest to nature.
Green Manure
We stock Green manure seed – a variety of plants that once germinated can be dug into soil to enrich it naturally. Perfect for allotments.
We also supply specialist seed packets for any special occasion. Along with supplying Wildflower Jars, Pollinator Mixes.
If you would require a larger order of a specific message on each packet, we would do our best to do fulfil the request.
