Soil testing

How is the pH level in your soil?

With the aid of an inexpensive test kit from your local garden centre you can check the state of your soil and therefore the health of your plants.

All that needs to be done is to take a sample of soil, mix with water and then compare the results to the colours on the chart to confirm your garden’s pH levels. The results will reveal whether your garden is too acidic or alkaline.

Soil testing

Acidic soil

  • Add lime to bring it back into balance

Alkaline soil

  • Add compost to bring it back into balance

Having the optimum pH levels in your soil, between 6.5 and 7.2, will provide the right amount of nutrients and water for your plants to grow strong and healthy.
